The best solution is to make your own açaí bowl at home. For this super simple, mouth-watering recipe, you can use frozen açaí pulp, or for a more easily available option, I recommend açaí powder which you can order online or buy in a health store. You also have the option to add in a scoop of vanilla protein powder, as much for the nutritional value as for that sweet flavour – my absolute favourite is Misfits as you’ll know if you follow me on Instagram @elibrechernutrition!
When it comes to toppings, I love adding any fresh fruit I have at home, a sprinkle of cacao nibs, a dollop of Raspberry Chia Jam and a handful of homemade granola – either Nutty Cinnamon Granola or Banana Nut Crunch Granola.
- 1-2 frozen bananas
- 2 tablespoons açaí powder
- 1/2 cup almond milk
- 1/2 cup fresh or frozen berries (I like to mix blueberries and raspberries, but strawberries and blackberries work too!)
- 1 scoop Misfits vanilla protein powder
Simply blend everything together until smooth, then get creative with the toppings! My favourite toppings include my Nutty Cinnamon Granola, Raspberry Chia Jam, sliced kiwi, strawberries, pomegranate seeds, cacao nibs and goji berries.
