How to make an Acai Bowl

AƧaƭ Bowl
AƧaĆ is a deep purple berry from Brazil which is absolutely loaded with antioxidants. AƧaĆ bowls are one of those things that make me envy those living inĀ Australia orĀ California – they seem to have hundreds of cute beachy cafes selling aƧaĆ bowls served with all sorts of tropical toppings from coconut shavings to fresh kiwi. Whilst it is becoming more and more available in cafĆ©s here in London, the price tends to be pretty extortionate.

The best solution is to make your own aƧaĆ bowl at home. For this super simple, mouth-watering recipe, you can use frozen aƧaĆ pulp, or for a more easily available option, I recommend aƧaĆ powder which you can order online or buy in a health store. You also have the option to add in a scoop of vanilla protein powder, as much for the nutritional value as for that sweet flavour – my absolute favourite is MyVegan as you’ll know if you follow me on Instagram @elibrechernutrition! When it comes to toppings, I love adding any fresh fruit I have at home, a sprinkle of cacao nibs, a dollop of Raspberry Chia Jam and a handful of Eli’s Granola.

Acai Bowl Vegan Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 frozen bananas
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 2 tablespoons aƧaĆ powder
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen mixed berries
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (use code ELIBRECHER for 35% off MyVegan protein)

Method:

Simply blend everything together until smooth, then get creative with the toppings! My favourite toppings include Eli’s Granola, sliced kiwi, strawberries, pomegranate seeds, cacao nibs and goji berries.
